Habitat University – Financial Coaching
The Habitat University Path to Homeownership Program is designed to educate and equip future homebuyers with the skills and tools necessary to improve their financial health to become mortgage-ready within 6 to 12 months.
This program provides future homebuyers with comprehensive financial coaching and education. By planning for the future and building a solid financial foundation, anyone has the opportunity to make their dreams of homeownership a reality.

Build Your Financial Foundation
Begin the program with a one-on-one, comprehensive financial coaching assessment with a NeighborWorks-certified Housing Counselor. You will review your credit report and create an action plan which includes specific financial steps that will improve credit and help you become mortgage ready.
Planning For Your Future
Habitat Oakland County staff is here to assist you on your journey toward future homeownership. We will be your partner in this program and offer guidance and support as you work on your action plan. Over the next 6 to 12 months, you will attend follow-up sessions every 90 days with your housing counselor to assess progress on your action plan. You will also attend various financial classes to learn tools to strengthen your financial foundation.
Realizing Your Dream of Homeownership
Upon reaching your financial goals and becoming mortgage ready, you can apply for the Habitat Oakland County Homeownership program or other homeownership programs.
Applicants to Habitat Oakland County’s Homeownership program that are not quite credit ready will automatically receive an invitation to the Habitat University Program.
