Supporting families and individuals through affordable and successful homeownership requires money, materials, and manpower. Every year, Habitat Oakland County relies on dozens of corporations, faith-based groups, civic organizations and individuals who come together to provide the financial and volunteer support needed to build and rehabilitate homes, and make critical repairs for homeowners throughout Oakland County.
In Oakland County there is a scarcity of affordable rental property for low to middle-income wage earners. That scarcity of affordable housing seems to be the root cause of povertys existence. Many families who come to explore a partnership with Habitat are spending up to 80 percent of their monthly income on unsafe rental housing. The Habitat program focuses on affordable housing so families can create a path to financial independence while planning for their future.
